Learn Nordic Walking
Walking with poles, and using a technique taught by our fully qualified Nordic Walking Instructors, everyone can enjoy this sociable and gentle sport. It is an activity suitable for all ages and abilities, so don’t hold back – get the Nordic Walking bug today!
Our Basic Techniques Course is taught by our fully qualified Nordic Walking Instructors. You will learn everything you need to know about Nordic Walking, including the techniques of Nordic Walking along with stretches and resistance work that will work out over 90% of your muscles.
This 4-hour course consists or two x 2-hour sessions. You will be taught the proper techniques required to Nordic Walk by our fully qualified Nordic Walking UK instructors.
Upon completion, you will receive a Course Competence Card which gains entry into the new Nordic Walking Club with its free weekly ‘Health Walks’ and monthly Adventure Walks.
The scheme is accredited by ‘Walking for Health’.
Please book in advance so that we can send you the Outdoor Health Questionnaire which, amongst other things, lets us know what size poles we need to bring for you.
One-off fee for the intensive 4-hour course – £25
Two Basic Techniques are currently planned:
Sunday 22nd April, 10.30 Second session by arrangement
The first 2-hour session meets at Magnesia Well Tea Room in Valley Gardens in Harrogate (near the boating lake). The second session will be scheduled at a meeting place convenient for you, usually the next week.
Tuesday 24th April, 10.30 Second session by arrangement
The first 1 1/2-hour session meets at Yorkshire Yoga and Therapy Centre, 9-10 Halfpenny Close, Knaresborough HG5 0TG. The second session will be scheduled at a meeting place convenient for you, usually the next week.
If you are age 50 or over and work under 8 hours a week, you are eligible to be a part of our new ESF Community Grants programme that will pay the cost of these courses. For further details contact us first – do not book online.
