URGENT Action Required
On the 1st of October, the Nordic Walking Club did a 5 mile circular route through the Pannal Hills, mostly using the Harrogate Ringway, but also using the many public footpaths and bridlepaths which lead from the urban area of Leadhall Lane and Leeds Road to open countryside.
As we climbed over a turnstile on one of these footpaths, we saw a notice pinned up which shocked all of us.
The Council is proposing to build 47 houses on the beautiful Stone Rings Beck valley. This area has always in the past been protected by the Council as a Special Landscape Area.
Please help stop this development by sending in your objection to the Council before the end of October. Why not do it now while you’re thinking of it?
Download this Draft Objection Letter, then just insert your address at the top and your name at the bottom. (It would be helpful if you changed the font and changed the wording around a bit so that it didn’t look like the same duplicated letter coming from everyone.)
The main address is a FREEPOST one so it doesn’t even need a stamp.
Alternatively, you could copy and paste the text of the letter into an email to the Council’s Local Development Framework Team.
The copies to Pannal ward councillors can either be posted (with a stamp) or you could copy and paste the text of the letter in to e-mails to Councillor Matthew Hill and Councillor Sharon Bentley.
Once sent, could you please contact Laura so that she knows how many objections have been sent in?
We will be having a look at the Council’s proposed development of other areas at our Walk Leaders’ Planning Meeting on 18 October, so please let Laura know if there are any other threatened areas that you are particularly concerned about.
For more information, about the Council’s other plans for development, see The ‘Urban Consultation 2011’.
If there are other sites you are concerned about, you can complete this Urban Questionnaire.
